Mixed Media / Collage

I am intrigued by patterns, shapes, textures, and colors that 'sing'----surfaces you want to touch and crawl into. My lifetime as a printmaker has led me to reach for these same sensitivities in my recent mixed media works on canvas. I interweave pigments, (oils and acrylics), with drawing, torn papers, particles and fibers, with a varnish mixture. I build up the surface of the canvas while continually scraping and re-working it, creating interacting layers of transparent colors and textures.
